Frequently Asked Questions

• How do I log a round?

  Go to the Rounds page and click "Log New Round". Enter the course name, your score, and any optional details like front/back 9 scores, playing partners, or notes.

• Can I save a range session while offline?

  Yes. Every signed-in tier can create a range or simulator-practice session during a connection interruption. Pro members can also add new practice shots to an existing saved session. The Range page labels device-only sessions and shots "Waiting for server confirmation" until they reach your account; pending shots do not affect statistics. Keep the same account signed in, reconnect or choose Retry sync, or discard a device-only copy. Session or shot edits and deletion still require a server connection.

• Can I edit a round after saving it?

  Yes! On the Rounds page, click on any round card to open it, then click the "Edit" button to modify any details.

• Why does a round say it was entered by an administrator?

  An administrator can add a complete scorecard when helping with an account or historical record. The round starts Private, belongs to you, and can affect eligible Lazy Golfing statistics. You are notified and can review, edit, or delete it at any time. This does not mean the score was posted or certified by an official handicap service.

• Can I mark a round as a scramble or exclude it from averages?

  Yes. Edit the round and use the "Round classification" checkboxes. "Scramble / team format" and "Practice / casual" keep the scorecard visible but remove it from score averages, LazyCap, leaderboards, and achievements. Use "Other format / exclude from stats" for best ball, skins, mulligans, other formats, or data-entry mistakes.

• How do I delete multiple rounds at once?

  On the Rounds page, check the boxes next to the rounds you want to delete, then click "Delete Selected" in the action bar that appears.

• What statistics are tracked?

  We track saved-round history separately from eligible performance statistics. Performance views identify whether averages, best/highest scores, and trends use eligible 18-hole rounds, eligible 9-hole rounds, or an 18-hole pace. If you enter advanced details, we also track GIR%, FIR%, putts per round, and scoring breakdowns such as birdies, pars, and bogeys.

• How do I export my data?

  Every golfer can go to Profile to download portable account JSON—including private reusable equipment—or complete visible saved-round history as CSV or XLSX. From Statistics, choose "Export report" to review, print, or download a personal statistics PDF. Personal export is not a Pro feature. Report files are created on your device, and archived or deleted rounds are excluded from round-history exports.

• How does Year in Review work?

  Open My Stats, then Year in Review. Choose any year that contains saved rounds. Every panel uses only that selected annual cohort, keeps 9-hole and 18-hole scores separate, and shows source coverage instead of inferring a personality or coaching conclusion. Optional PNG cards are generated on your device and may contain your name, selected scores, and a course name; review them before sharing. Lazy Golfing does not upload or retain those images.

• How do I delete my account?

  Go to your Profile page and use the account deletion controls. Export your data first if you want a personal copy before deletion.

• Is my data private?

  Your rounds are not public by default. They are visible to accepted friends unless you choose Private, and you can make all rounds—or one specific round—Private, Friends Only, or Public. Eligible tagged or confirmed playing partners can see the round they played with you even if you are not friends, while blocked accounts cannot. Your private notes, labels, and other owner-only details are never included just because a round is shared or merged.

• What is the difference between Private notes and a Shared recap?

  Private notes are always just for you. You can use them for equipment used that round, swing thoughts, or reminders; they are included in your personal account and round exports but never copied into sharing. A Shared recap is a separate optional message for people who can view that round under its Private, Friends Only, or Public audience. A Public round and its Shared recap can be read without signing in. Shared recaps are attributed to their author, stay separate when rounds are merged, and can be reported by signed-in viewers.

• How does My Equipment work?

  Open Profile, then Manage private equipment. You can keep up to 50 active clubs, balls, or other items, mark what is currently in your bag, edit details, and archive or restore old items. The list is owner-only and included in your account JSON. It does not make fitting, performance, or purchase recommendations and is not added to shared rounds.

• What is included for free?

  Free includes round import, tracking, corrections, classifications, exports, basic stats, LazyCap, privacy controls, social and group features, league participation, and basic one-off tournaments.

• What does Pro add?

  Pro is for personal game improvement. It adds deeper comparisons, advanced Scorecard Performance views, nine-hole pairing, and advanced range analysis without changing score ownership, import/export access, privacy, or basic scorekeeping.

• What does Commissioner add?

  Commissioner is $50 per league per year for organizers. It unlocks league setup, scheduling, roster and substitute management, seasons, formats, verification, standings, live scoring, branding, and league-run tournaments. Authorized members receive the paid league experience without needing personal Pro.

• Are tournaments free?

  Basic one-off tournaments are free for signed-in users. League-run tournaments are part of Commissioner value because they use league management tools.

• How does Match Play work?

  Create a gross Match Play tournament with 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64 active players. Before starting, the manager saves one complete single-elimination bracket using LazyCap or distinct manual seeds. Managers record the confirmed winner as a played hole margin, concession, or walkover. Results advance only after both feeder matches finish; stale corrections are refused, and changing a winner is blocked once the downstream match is complete.

• How does Four-Ball work?

  A tournament manager assigns every active player to a two-person side before play begins. Each partner submits a complete saved round from the same course and round slot. Lazy Golfing selects the lower partner score on each hole, then shows side standings. Gross and LazyCap-based net tables are separate choices. If a source round is corrected, a tournament manager can rebuild that side result.

• How does Foursomes work?

  A manager assigns every active player to a two-person side before starting. Either partner or a tournament manager records one complete gross side scorecard, chooses the tee-shot partner on each hole, reviews the derived alternating stroke order, and confirms the submission or correction. Nine-hole and 18-hole standings stay separate. Foursomes does not create individual rounds, change LazyCap or personal statistics, or claim official handicap posting or Rule 22 certification.

• How does Scramble work?

  A manager assigns every active player to one side of two through four players. A side member or manager records one complete gross side scorecard and identifies whose shot the side selected for every counted stroke. Corrections require the current source and scorecard versions. Nine-hole and 18-hole cohorts stay separate. Scramble does not infer individual scores, change personal rounds or LazyCap, or claim an official handicap allowance.

• How do tournament tee times and shotgun starts work?

  A tournament commissioner or admin chooses a declared round, arranges every active player or configured side into groups representing at most four golfers, and assigns either reviewed tee times or unique shotgun starting holes. Lazy Golfing previews the complete replacement before saving and refuses stale changes or edits after scoring exists. These are planned logistics, not proof of attendance or actual start. Match Play remains match-owned and does not use this group assignment surface.

• How do I save tournament results?

  Open a supported gross or net stroke-play, Stableford, Four-Ball, gross Foursomes, or gross Scramble tournament with eligible standings and choose "Open results report." You can download a CSV or use your browser to print or save a PDF. The report reproduces the current server standings and keeps mixed 9-hole and 18-hole cohorts separate; it does not calculate awards. Files stay on your device. A minimal 90-day audit receipt records the authorized CSV or print action, not the report contents.

• Who can see an Availability Board post?

  Availability posts may be visible to anyone while open, including people who are not signed in. A post can include your profile summary, course, date, optional tee time, spots wanted, LazyCap snapshot, and message. Cancel your own post when the opening is no longer available.

• What does the owner see when I respond to a board post?

  The post owner can see your profile summary and optional message before accepting or declining. Responses are not listed on the public board. Keep messages about golf logistics and avoid contact, payment, address, or sensitive personal information.

• Does blocking make public board posts invisible?

  No. Blocking controls supported signed-in interaction; it does not guarantee that public information is invisible while someone is signed out. Cancel your own open post to remove that opening from the board.

• What are keyboard shortcuts?

  Press "?" anywhere to see all available keyboard shortcuts. For example, "g r" goes to Rounds, "n" opens a new round form, and "/" focuses the search.

• Do I need a LazyCap to use Lazy Golfing?

  No. LazyCap is optional and begins after your first eligible round. It averages the best eight differentials from your most recent 20 eligible rounds, using saved tee/course rating and slope where available. Scramble, practice, excluded, flagged, and deleted rounds do not count. Open Stats → LazyCap Details to see the exact included rounds and formula-version snapshots. LazyCap supports Lazy Golfing trends and configured net play; it is not a USGA Handicap Index and is not posted to or certified by GHIN.
